@fatness1974 - For gamble roofs, you need to place walls usually one to three tiles in from the walls on the lower level. You use the half gable roof to go from the top of wall below to your walls that you placed on the level above a few tiles in. Then click the option in roofing that lets you raise and lower a roof individually or, if you haven't added any roofing yet, just raise the top of the roof line even with the top of the wall. Then go up one level and add a full gable roof. Then lower that roof line individually to get the look you want.
You can then add perpendicular walls and gables to add windows to the level with the half gables.
