Crystalline Cove - Finally back on the exchange!!!

I'll start playing Crystalline Cove tonight, in Stallion Slope. As I haven't installed the world yet, I'm not sure which ranch I'll be using. I'll be playing Sims I made: a married couple, dog, cat, and two horses.

For hacks, I have MATY's AwesomeMod. (I may be reinstalling some other hacks as well; I'll let you know if I do.)

Is it okay to move other families from the lot bin into other houses? Or would you rather the game's story progression take care of that?
