Lovejoy - that is not the way that works - you do not add together each processor - if your processors are 2.4 gigahertz then your processor speed is 2.4. I have 6 processors at 3.2 ghz at factory settings, as i have a black edition it is easy to overclock, but I never do it - my hubby does on his pc though - but my procesor speed is 3.2.
My 6 processors cannot run any faster set at 3.2 than someones with a single core processor can run. The purpose of multiprocessors is the ability to process information where each processor can handle an equal amount of information - so if you have just 1 processor it has to handle all that info - if you have 2 then they divide the info and so forth and in my case that info is divided into 6 receptors capable of all handling their info at a speed of 3.2 so because it can handle more information at a speed of 3.2 ghz it may seem faster and technically 6 times the info can be processed but it does not make my pc 6 times faster. Technically sitting side by side with a single core processor mine would do the same job of the single core in maybe three and a half less amount of time because each processor can handle more work and still be cool - I cannot imagine touching the single core processor having to do the same amount of work as my six core. That computer will not last as long as my computer as it would be worked to hard to do the same job even if it had everything else the same as me - that processor will need replacing in less than a year for sure. It will be weakened in a matter of weeks at most. But anyway your processor is a 2.4 period. There is no such thing as a 10 ghz processor. You could not even overclock a processor to half that. My processor would be extremely unstable at 4.7 or higher. My hubby runs the same processor as mine overclocked at 4.3 ghz and it is still stable but gets much hotter than mine does. He does has a liquid cooled system, so he can get away with that. I wouldn't dare.
Anyway I hope that explains it a little better to how the speed works. Technically a 2.4 processor is a tad low for a graphic enhanced program like this but highly doable because you have 4 processors. When I buy new processor I try to aim for as near to 3.0 or higher that I can find, then from there look for at least 4 processors - 6 or even 8 preferred. I wish I had an 8 but still too expensive for my blood.
Needless to say, Gem I am back. So when you get the new beta I believe I can keep my mind on the testing. The last two days have helped. A dear friend went and gifted me the Lunar Lakes and my hubby got me the new Twilight movie - yes, don't say it - I AM a Twiheart. And I don't care whether anyone likes it or not. I will watch these movies over and over. But then I have never cared what anyone else thinks anyway. I like what I like regardless. hehehe But I am feeling better.
All that annoying Treasure hunt is getting on my last nerve and has gotten my head out of Sad Town - as it was not making me getting badges easy - I finally got one after much hair pulling and cursing. Now if I can just find a DD I don't have. It rots they won't count gifting DD's. There is very few Sims store stuff i don't have. This is not fair. It will not even let me buy it twice. Grr. I want that set.
Nothing like a new movie, a new town, and a lot of anger with a Treasure Hunt getting one out of ones funk. It did not help matters for my fav singer to go and die this week also. Then to sit through her funeral, to have her casket be brought out during a rendition of her singing I will Always Love you, my all time favorite song of hers ever. That was so heart breaking and thinking of her little girl and all. But everything else seems to have still been able to take me out of my funk for the time being. I am sure I will go back there if our Pet Cemetary ground thaws soon, as my two little fur babies are in their caskets - our vet provided them little pet caskets, and are keeping all in cold storage until they can be buried. That will be sad. I plan on buying some spring bulbs to make them a flowery tombstone like I have for all but 2 of my other fur babies that have gone on before. Our eldest was cremated as he hated outside, so we felt it was not fair to bury him out side. He has a spot on the mantle. And my other fur baby that died 6 years ago of feline Leukemia even though she had the shots - we had her cremated because of the contagion factor. I did not want to threaten neighborhood cats just in case that stuff can penetrate the ground as it is contagious. She rest besides Yiddabit on the shelf.
