are we talking about 1950's Kansas city foursquare like in the actual movie or another style? the architecture ranged quite a bit. I might have something in my studio. I try not use any 3rd party cc. Here is a link that may be helpful in choosing a 50's style. I'm sure many builders would be happy to build a custom home for your story if you can be more specific on what you'll need, like how many beds/baths, boys girls etc.

Not to be pedantic, but if you were referencing A Christmas Story, that movie took place in the 1940s and the house was built in 1895 in Cleveland, Ohio.
The styles that you're looking for is "ranch", "atomic ranch" and "split level." There are tons of these on The Exchange and across multiple Sims 3 sites, I'm certain.
