...but where I live there aren't any crunchy leaves. The trees are either green or brown/sparse.
Guess I shall have to find other fun!

It doesn't matter what skill level you're at, this isn't a contest. Creating a gift or two for another is a fun way to get to know someone who might or might not be new-to-you and many friendships have been formed or furthered via these gift exchanges.
Who knows, you might discover a whole new way to play your game while creating something your buddy would enjoy. I know I have in past exchanges!
