Thanks may_nilan. You should still, at some point, have a go at making your own world. Even if it isn`t quite what you expected (I usually feel the same way when I finish a world), it`s still a rewarding experience
Callum, you know, I`m really not familiar with the south west. I did live in Glasgow for a couple of years, but only visited the Campsie Fells (just north of Glasgow). Loch Lochy is a wee bit silly sounding, but it is very pretty. It was kinda funny when I read you had a Chinese meal in Fort William because everywhere else was closed
Regards sculpting, I use the create gentle hill tool and very slowing raise the hills, but stop every so often to break up any set patterns which seem to be forming (to keep the mountains ragged). I smooth over certain areas of the mountain then work on individual areas to give the mountain "shoulders", ridges etc. It`s quite time consuming.
I also used the distant terrain as a kind of guide as to how the mountains should encompass the town (you know, like the different shapes of mountains and hills, whether conical or smoothly humped :? ). I use the Create Gentle valley tool and Create mountain tools set to very small and on very low strength to create furrows and ridges on the mountains (this takes a bit of practice, but when you find the suitable settings, it`s not too hard) :)
Thanks Gem. Glad you like the ranch, it was a bit awkward for me to build the ranch. I didn`t have a clue, you know, like, who, what, where, why? But google helped, and I have dozens of pics as reference (I really needed them, and almost every step of the way :? ). Hope all is well with you down there in Greece. It looks like there won`t be a white christmas here in Scotland (unless you climb a 1,000 metre mountain). The weather is just... bleh central station :|
Thank you, KatelynRocks :D
