Rukaya :) Hi. I`ve been testing out a "Showtime version" of Great Bear after altering a few lots and seeing how things work (or not). It`s a bit of a long story, but the main thing is, I`ve pretty much finished. It`s always good to know Great Bear has worked out for you, Rukaya, and hope the new version suits you too. Also, thanks so much for adding my worlds (and Ronnie and Bear) to your favourites :D
DD, well, as I mentioned to Rukaya, the SHT version of Great Bear is pretty much finished. To cut a long story short; I`d been casually working away on a "personal" version of GB (basically adding more trees and dirt) and tried adding the SHT venues to that version of GB, but in testing, I found those extra trees (actually, there were a LOT) seemed to cause the game to, not lag, but feel "sticky" in motion. Um? So...I knew I still had the original save files for the first completed version of GB, so I saved all my world files to a safe place and uninstalled CAW, I reinstalled CAW and added just the old save files for the first version of GB (I probably didn`t need to go to that extreme, but it seemed the best bet at the time).
So, I had saved all the revamped lots and SHT venues and added them to the "less trees" original version of GB, and it is this version I have been testing.
All seems well as much as I can see for myself. I have experienced a couple of odd things. My sim in the singer career had a couple of gigs coming up; one at the Coffeehouse and one at Verde Park. On arrival at the Coffeehouse a message popped up saying "Looks like luck is not on your side. The town is loaded with shows, and there isn`t anywhere that your sim can perform tonight". My sim played the show anyway. Next day, same thing happened at the show at Verde Park. My sim had played a few shows up to that point without any issues. I don`t know if it`s meant to happen or not? By the way, I`m still not using any mods whilst I finish testing GB.
There have been a few simfests in town too, at the park, Mick`s Karaoke and the private venue. No problems there.
I`m not sure there is anything else I can do with this SHT version of Great Bear. I know that testing the SHT version has been awkward due to the glitchy nature of the EP, but I think it might be ready to release.
I`ll admit, the Late Night/Showtime possible conflict was (is?) a worry. I`m not the most technically minded builder and it doesn`t take much for me to be flung out into space like Darth Vader at the end of the original Star Wars movie :?
Still, sometimes you just have to buckle down the hatches and hope for the best. I will keep the previous versions of Great Bear available for download and add a link to the Showtime version on the first page of this thread. I will also try uploading the "fixed" version of the Snowdrop House (16 Birchdale), so that if anyone experiences routing issues with that lot they can download the new version and add it instead.
DutchySim, Hi! You are very kind, Dutchysim. If you have read so far in this post, you will know what`s been going on "behind the scenes". So, hopefully it won`t be long before I update Great Bear for Showtime. All`s well up here in Scotland. It`s been four seasons in a day weather up here, but at least Spring is knocking at the door. As always, all the very best to you :-)
Katana_x, thank you very much for your compliments. Much appreciated.
