If it helps your sanity, the other problem is not really a problem. While I typed the above I realised that so far I have only played either pre-populated worlds with a large pool of homeless Sims or tiny worlds with a limited amount of venues for roled Sims. So, it's sort of logical that I would experience this slowness or role-assigning for the first time. I guess if one deleted the homeless of Bridgeport before start-up the same would happen.
But thanks for the Beta. I look forward to trying this out.
