Continuation of Chapter 32
As time passed Bailey's baby belly grew bigger and bigger and Goodwin never stopped finding ways to express to her how much she means to him.

One morning at breakfast, the two were talking about their future together. The first subject that came up was getting married. "Goodwin, honey," Bailey addressed, "as much as I would LOVE for us to get married right NOW...I don't think I'd be able to handle being pregnant and having a wedding at the same time!"
Goodwin nodded while eating.

"Plus I would like to have my old figure back when I'm in my wedding dress," she said with a wink.
Goodwin winked back.
When the time came close for Bailey to deliver she, Goodwin and her parents had a plan in place. Since Goodwin's job in the police force was so unpredictable, if the baby was coming and Bailey was alone in her home and couldn't reach Goodwin, then she would call her Dad to take her to the hospital. If she couldn't reach him then she would call Jenni. She even had a nice bag all packed up for her stay in the hospital and felt totally prepared!
It was about a week before she was due and on this particular night, Bailey was home alone chilling on the couch watching TV when she started to feel some contractions. Immediately she timed them. For a while they were about ten minutes apart which didn't alarm her much, but at soon as they started getting to be five minutes apart...she called Goodwin. When he answered his phone, she could hear sirens in the background. Ignoring it, she told him she felt like she was going into labor.
"I'm so sorry honey," Goodwin said frantically, "but I can't talk right now. I'm in the middle of a high speed chase."
"A chase?"
"You'll have to call your Dad. I'll be there at the hospital as soon as I can! Love you!" Then he hung up.
As Bailey lowered the phone down by her side she started to worry about her boyfriend, but all that was interrupted with another contraction. Quickly she called Michael and told him to come over NOW!
Michael arrived ten minutes later, not bothering to knock, walked in and found Bailey in her bedroom lying flat on her bed. "Sorry Bailey," he said coming to her side, "I tried to get here as quickly as I could. How are you doing?"
Michael didn't know it, but Bailey had been holding in her breath for a few seconds trying not to cry out in pain, but she couldn't hold it back any longer.
Hearing her agonizing cry, Michael took her hand. "Sounds like we need to go now," he said, "Let me help you."
"Dad...my water broke a few minutes ago."
"That's alright," Michael comforted, gently lifting her up. "We don't have much time now. Can you stand?"
"No...dad," Bailey said unpleasantly, falling back down on the bed, "I think the baby is coming."
"Well, yeah," Michael said, "It IS coming, that's why we need to go NOW!"
"No, dad I mean," Bailey said breathing rapidly, "It's hurting REALLY bad! I think the baby is coming NOW!" She tried to keep doing that breathing technique she learned, but was failing horribly at it.
Michael's eyes widened and without any thought, he pulled his daughter's wet pants off and had a look. He gaped as he saw that the baby's head was crowning. "Oh...my gosh," he paused, "you're right."
Panicking Bailey cried in agony, "Oh gosh! What are we going to do!?"
Michael already had his phone pulled out. "First, I am calling 911."
"But dad can't YOU just deliver the baby!?"
"I CAN, but I'm going to need some help afterward and if there happen to be any complications I won't exactly know what to do."
"COMPLICATIONS!?"
"Shhh," Michael hushed tenderly, as he held the phone to his ear. "Relax. It's going to be alright." Once he got connected with the dispatcher he explained that he didn't need to be walked through on how to deliver the baby, but that he would need help afterward and told her to send an ambulance over right away.
Bailey screamed in pain again as he hung up the phone. "Oh gosh dad this is worse than I ever imagined it would be! I can't do this!"
"Yes you can honey," Michael said, "I gotta run to the bathroom real quick, wash my hands and grab a towel."
"Hurry!"
As Bailey waited for her father to return, she grasped the bed sheets and tried to control her breathing, desperate for ANYTHING to help alleviate this most excruciating pain! This wasn't the kind of situation they prepared her for in birthing classes! Once Michael returned he positioned himself below Bailey's waist to be able to catch the baby properly. It had been YEARS since he learned how to deliver a baby. He tried not to let his nervousness show to his daughter. That would only make this worse for her. He had to be strong. "Alright Bailey," he said, "I need you to push as hard as you can. Getting the head out is the hardest part, but once it's out the rest of the baby's body usually just slides right out."
"Ok," Bailey said squeezing her eyes shut. She tried to give herself a pep talk in her mind.
"Ready?"

"Yes dad!" Bailey said under the pain of another contraction. "I've BEEN ready for a while now!"
Michael cracked a smile. 'I guess that was a dumb question.'
"PUSH!"
With every bit of strength she had, Bailey pushed.

"That was a good one!" Michael encouraged. "Keep going!"
"Dad...I'm scared!"
"I'm right here with you honey. Focus. So far everything is looking good, just keep pushing!" He prayed the rest of her body was doing well too. He didn't have time to check her vitals, it was crucial that the baby get delivered safely and immediately.
Crying out in agony, Bailey pushed again...and again...and again. The pain was becoming unbearable. She shook her sweaty head and cried, "I can't do this anymore dad, I can't! It HURTS!"
"I know, Bailey," Michael said calmly, "but the baby's head is almost out! One more big push ought to do it."
"I don't have any strength left in me!"
"Bailey!" Michael addressed firmly.
Looking up at her father she could see his hand extended toward her. Taking it, he lifted her up a little and said, "You can do this. One more big push. Come on! Squeeze my hand." His loving gaze gave her strength and gripping tightly, she pushed again. It wasn't long until she heard a cry and saw the lights flashing outside her bedroom window. The ambulance finally made it and the labor was over. Throwing herself back down on her bed in relief, she worked on catching her breath as Michael cleaned up the baby the best he could.
"Shhh," he hushed to the wailing baby, taking a brief moment with it until he had to pass it on to his daughter.

"It's a girl," he said to Bailey as he brought her down to her chest.
Smiling, Bailey held her baby girl as tightly to her chest as she could and kissed the top of her head. "My sweet Celeste," she whispered. Then she looked up at her father. "That's what we decided to name her."
With tears welling up in his eyes, Michael said, "It's a beautiful name."
Then the paramedics burst in and immediately went to attending Celeste and Bailey.
***************
When all was said and done the paramedics were in awe and relieved to find the mother and baby in a good, stable condition considering the circumstances. Bailey gave all the credit to her father while he in return gave it to her. Both of them didn't have any doubt that God had watched over them. Bailey declined having her and Celeste be taken to the hospital since they were both doing alright and Michael promised to stay by their side for the next twenty-four hours. Goodwin showed up just as the paramedics were leaving and rushed to his love and daughter's side, making sure they were ok. He couldn't thank Michael enough for his help and being there when he couldn't be. It took a few minutes, but as soon as Celeste figured it out she began to nurse well. Michael could tell Bailey was extremely tired and asked Goodwin to take Celeste and care for her once she was finished eating.
In no time the whole family came over to greet the newest family member. Bailey rested in her room while everyone doted and cooed over Celeste. Amidst all the excitement, Michael gently opened the door to Bailey's room, closed it behind him and sat down on the bed beside her. She looked so peaceful compared to how he had seen her just an hour before. He felt so relieved. What a night! Gently he took her hand, checking her pulse. Then Bailey woke suddenly hearing Celeste crying from the other room.
"Shhh," Michael hushed, "she's ok Bailey. You've got five adults out there who are more than willing to take care of her for you. Don't worry, just rest."
http://s20.postimg.org/cqz1f01l9/Michael_comforting_Bailey.jpg
"What if she gets hungry again?" Bailey asked.
"The paramedics left some newborn formula bottles for her."
"But what if she won't want to nurse after having one of those?"
Michael chuckled, "She will still nurse Bailey, don't you worry. Right now you just need to get some rest."
Closing her eyes, Bailey took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. "Thank you everything dad," she said. "I couldn't have done that without you. I love you."
Stroking her hair, Michael said, "I love you too Bailey. Sleep well."
****************
The next morning, Bailey panicked when she woke up to find it was after NINE in the morning and no one had awoken her yet! Jumping out of bed, but immediately stopping because of the pain, made her realize that really wasn't the best idea. Slowly now she walked to her door, opened it and gazed down the hall to see Goodwin, Jenni and Michael conversing at the dinner table. Carefully, she walked down the hall.
"Hey!" Jenni greeted, being the first to see her. "You're awake."
Goodwin and Michael stood up at the same time, coming to her side.
"I'm alright," Bailey said to them, "Where's Celeste?"
"She's sleeping," Goodwin replied.
"Who cared for her last night?"
"I did," Jenni answered.
Bailey smiled at her mother in law in gratitude. "Aww, thanks Jenni. You really didn't have to do that for me! She must have kept you awake ALL night!"
Jenni waved her hand at her. "It was no problem at all Bailey. It's not like I've never cared for a newborn at night before," she said with a wink.
"Besides," Goodwin said, "You really needed the rest."
Bailey gripped the two men's arms as her lower body began to hurt again.
"Let's get you back into bed," Michael said, taking her arm and escorting her back to her room. He was taken aback to find his daughter throwing her arms around him.
"I didn't get to give this to you last night," Bailey said to Michael, "but I wanted to thank you again for being there for me and Celeste. You're the BEST dad!"

Jenni and Goodwin smiled while watching the tender moment between father and daughter.
Michael patted Bailey's back and said, "You're very welcome Bailey. You've always made me proud. I have no doubt you'll be an amazing mother."
More to come. :)
