Chapter 34
Back in Twinbrook, during the year of Daniel and Andrea's courtship and marriage, another eventful moment happened for Goodwin and Bailey. Not expecting anything special, Bailey went out to a very nice dinner with Goodwin and they dined out on the restaurant deck under the moonlight. Afterward, they stood by the edge of the deck, with the sound of the waving water beneath their feet, gazing at the stars and enjoying a silent moment together.
After a few minutes Goodwin turned to his love, taking her hands and said, "Bailey...this past year with you and Celeste has been the happiest I've ever been in my life."
Bailey smiled with a blush.
"I really mean that. I never thought I could get my life back together and be in such a great place as I am right now."

"Oh Goodwin," Bailey said stroking his cheek, "I love you SO much!"
"I love you too," Goodwin said gently kissing her. "There's something I should've done much sooner than now. Please forgive me for making you wait."
Bailey looked upon him tentatively. "Wait for what?" she asked.
With a grin, Goodwin said, "I have something for you," and began to reach into his suit pocket.

"Oh really?" Bailey said romantically.
"Yes," Goodwin replied, but grew a bit frustrated when he couldn't seem to get the box out! Starting to get down on one knee he tried harder.
"What is it?" Bailey couldn't help asking. "You're killing me here!"
"Don't worry, I got it." 'Whew!'

With Bailey staring at him in suspense, Goodwin began by saying, "Bailey Holland," and then he opened the box, "I want you for my wife, from now until the rest of my life. Will you marry me?"
Bailey clasped her hands over her mouth in shock as she stared at the gorgeous diamond ring.

"Oh my gosh Goodwin!" she nearly squealed. "It's beautiful!!"
"Here, let me slip it on your finger for you," Goodwin said, doing just that.
Bailey doted over the ring, as the moonlight shined on it just right, causing it to illuminate. The sparkle reflected onto her eyes.

"So?" Goodwin asked. "Is that a Yes?"
With tears welling up in her eyes, Bailey cried out, "YES!" and jumped into his arms.

While squeezing each other tightly and exchanging "I love yous," Bailey had this sudden thought pop into her mind. Given Goodwin's history with her parents, even though things were patched up and going well, she had to look him in the eye and ask, "You asked for my father's permission right?"
Chuckling, Goodwin said, "Of course! He was more ok with it than I expected."
With a sigh of relief, Bailey said, "Oh thank goodness!" Then inched in closer to kiss him.
After a few minutes of kissing and sharing their excitement, Goodwin said, "So Bailey I was thinking?"
"Yes?"
For a second he hesitated, but said, "How would you feel about us just running over to City Hall and getting married right now?"

With her eyes widening, Bailey said, "Uhh...I don't think they are open right now honey."
"Right! I mean...first thing in the morning?"
Bailey's face fell for a moment.
Feeling bad, Goodwin went on to say, "Of course...it's your big day and it should be exactly how you want it, it's just," he paused, lowering his head, "with me not having any family around, my parents both being dead and me being the only child...it might look funny not having anyone on my side to share the celebration with."
Bailey sympathized and placed her hand on his shoulder. "My family is your family. You know that."
"I do," he said, "but...I just can't wait any longer to marry you. I've waited long enough."
"And...why DID you wait so long to ask me?"
Pursing his lips he then said, "I just wanted to make sure everything was REALLY ok between me, Jenni and Sue before throwing out the news that I proposed to you."
Bailey smiled and gave him a hug. "You're a good man Goodwin Goode," she said. "One of the most thoughtful men I have ever met." Then she looked deeply into his eyes. "And while I always dreamed of having a big, fancy wedding...I'm totally ok with not having to stress over planning one! Plus I want to marry you right away too and start our new life together."
"You sure?"
"Definitely! Andrea's wedding was simple yet very beautiful. It will be the same for us." Then she leaned in and whispered in his ear, "Although I will have a much more stunning dress!"
Goodwin laughed then whispered back, "Well, make sure it's not one of those with a ton of laces in the back. They make it too hard to get it off..."
"Goodwin!" Bailey shouted, playfully slapping his shoulder. But Goodwin wasn't going to take back what he said. He just winked at her.

The next morning, Bailey got a call from Jenni just checking in to see how life was going.

"Life is wonderful mom!" Bailey said excitedly, "I just had to most AMAZING evening with Goodwin last night!"
"Oh? Dare I ask?"
Chuckling, Bailey answered, "Not THAT! He proposed to me!"
"Finally!?"
"Yes...mom. His reason for waiting was really...rather sweet."
There was a pause. "I think I know the reason. I'm truly happy for the both of you."
That meant a lot for Bailey to hear. "Thanks mom. Could you put dad on the phone so I can tell him?"
"You just missed him."
"Darn...well I will come by later and tell everyone."
"So, have you guys set a date yet?"
"Well," Bailey hesitated, "we were...kind of hoping to get married as soon as possible. Like the way Daniel and Andrea did it."
There was silence on the other end for a moment. "At City Hall?" Jenni asked. "What's wrong with having a real wedding? Your father and I were hoping we could help plan a very nice one for you and Goodwin."
"I know mom," Bailey said, rolling her eyes. "Yes, doing it at City Hall is not the NORMAL kind of wedding but...
http://s20.postimg.org/9p8szhudp/Bailey_chatting_with_Jenni_2.jpg
...Goodwin and I are just anxious to start our life together. Ready to finally move forward. Plus both of our jobs demand a lot of our time. There's just no time to plan a big wedding..."
Once again there was silence for a moment on the other end. "I understand," was all Jenni said.
Their conversation didn't last much longer after that, but Bailey was happy it ended on a good note. She quickly got herself dressed and headed over to the Bridal store to pick out the dress she had been eyeballing for months!

The wedding didn't happen the next day of course, but it did happen in a week. Bailey and Goodwin were joined in holy matrimony on a beautiful, sunny Saturday morning in a well decorated City Clerk's office, courtesy of Jenni and the girls. When they stepped out of the building as husband and wife they were surprised to find a few of their friends outside cheering and throwing rice. They figured that was another surprise from her family members since they really didn't personally invite anyone outside of the family circle. It was nice.
While getting settled into Goodwin's home, the first order of business was to decorate Celeste's room and fill it with furniture.

Bailey was very happy with the end result. A great gift for the soon to be one year old. Celeste seemed to adjust to her new sleeping environment well...except she REALLY disliked it when it was bath time.

"Oh goodness!" Bailey hushed, as she wrapped Celeste in a towel. "You are done." She rubbed noses with her baby girl until she stopped crying and then said, "Isn't it great that the three of us are a family now?" Then she frowned as her inner concerns about the unknown future came into her mind. "I just hope...that we will be the parents you deserve. That we'll always make you happy."

As usual, life had to move on after all the excitement. Bailey worked hard at trying to write more interesting stories for her job.

Goodwin started doing some undercover work in the police force which he found to be really fun. The extra pay was nice too. One day while feeling a little daring, he finally got the courage to swim in the large pond in their backyard.
http://s20.postimg.org/et02np5hp/Goodwin_swimming_in_pond.jpg
He and Bailey's Woohoo life sure seemed better than ever since getting married! They were even talking about trying for another baby.

One evening though, while in the bathtub, something was troubling Goodwin.
http://s20.postimg.org/p1x579ix9/Sim_GQ.jpg
'What the heck was Sinbad doing chatting with Sue outside of the bowling alley?' he thought. 'Oh come now...it's most likely not what I think. He was probably just making friendly conversation.' Then his eyes grew wider. He knew Sinbad better than anyone. 'Or maybe it's EXACTLY what I think! I've got to keep a close eye on BOTH of them...'
More to come. :)
