Chapter 36
Six months passed. Andrea was in the middle of her fourth year of medical school, with one more left to go. Daniel would be graduating with a degree in Fine Arts, Tristan was about to graduate from High School, Ken would be entering Middle School and with Tay about to graduate from College with a degree in Science he and Molly started preparations for their wedding.
For years now, Molly had been having some serious thoughts about getting plastic surgery done. That desire only heightened when Tay got his ear reduction done with great success. She didn't like how droopy her eyelids were or the shape of her lips. Tay did his best to reassure her how beautiful she was, which she appreciated, but she felt like she'd never be truly happy with herself until she got the surgery done. Tay still had his concerns though. "What about the cost? All the money we have saved is going toward our wedding," he said to her.
"This is not money coming out of our wedding fund," Molly said.
Tay stood there for a second trying to figure out how she raised the extra money, but that wasn't important to him right now. "I dunno Molly," he said with concern. "What if the surgery doesn't turn out right and you'll need surgery again to fix it? You really don't NEED plastic surgery sweetie."
"Oh?" Molly shot back. "So it's ok for you to run off and get plastic surgery without speaking to me first and I was just fine with it, but then when I decide to do the same thing and actually TALK to you about it FIRST, you aren't willing to give me your support?"
Tay pursed his lips. He really couldn't argue with that. "Touche," he said.
"Look Tay," Molly said in a calmer tone, coming towards him and taking his hands. "I appreciate your concern. I really do. I know there are risks involved, but...I just feel like I have to do this or I'll forever regret it. I know it will help me feel better about myself."
Still standing firm on the position that she really didn't need the surgery, Tay shrugged his shoulders and said, "Alright then, you have my support, but I would suggest talking with your dad about it beforehand. Maybe he can give you a recommendation for an amazing plastic surgeon who won't mess up!"
Molly chuckled in agreement.

The day Molly was to go in for surgery, she spent some time out on the porch playing with Shawn. "I hope I won't look so different to you that you'll be afraid of me," she said to him with a frown. Maybe she was having some doubts, but she couldn't back out now.

When the procedure was done, Molly recovered very well. She was quite pleased with the result.

'I really need to get my eyebrows plucked,' Molly thought, 'then my new look will be one hundred percent perfect!'
"WOW!" she remembered Tay exclaiming to her after the bandages on her face were removed. "You...look...AMAZING! I mean, you always did before but...my gosh you're beautiful!"
With tears welling up in her healing eyelids, Molly said, "Thank you Tay! I love you so much!"
Tay embraced her gently. "I love you too."
When she had fully recovered, her heart filled up with joy by the fact that Shawn still recognized her as his mommy.

Michael hadn't said much to Molly since the surgery and one evening after dinner, she couldn't help but confront him about it. "Dad," she addressed as they stood alone together in the living room. "We haven't talked much since my surgery and I can sense something is wrong." She paused, trying to hold back her emotions, "Please...tell me why? Are you not happy with this decision I have made?" Then she lowered her head. "Do I not look like your daughter anymore?"
Upon hearing that, Michael placed his hand on her shoulder. "No, Molly," he said assuredly. "You look beautiful. It's just...taking me some time to get used to the change."

Molly nodded, understanding.
"Truth be told," Michael added, "you look more like your mother now." He cracked a smile. "I guess I kind of liked the fact that you used to look more like me."
Finding herself cracking a smile as well, Molly said, "That's not why I got the surgery if it makes you feel any better."
"It does a little bit," Michael chuckled. Then he gave her a hug. "I love you Molly. I always will."
"I love you too dad. Thanks."

After weeks of preparation, and feeling confident that everything was planned out just right, the night before the wedding had arrived for Molly and Tay. Of course Molly had a hard time falling asleep. Tomorrow she would officially become Mrs. Tay Bayless. Not that she wasn't thrilled to finally be marrying her high school sweetheart whom she had a child with, but...there's always that uncertainty of making a lifelong commitment to someone. Feelings of anxiety over whether you'll truly be happy together and get through the hard times without giving up and getting a divorce. She also couldn't help worrying about Tay's family's feelings about their marriage. It was unfortunate that they lived in the same town! "Oh gosh!" Molly whispered, pulling the bed covers up to her chin while shaking. "I wish my mother was here to talk to me right now. To let me know that everything is going to be ok." After saying that, Molly closed her eyes and unexpectedly fell into a deep sleep.
In a dream, she found herself waking up to the sound of a knife scraping on a plate from the dining room downstairs.

Curiously, she carefully got out of bed and tip toed from her room, into the hall and down the stairs. When she caught a view of the dining room from the middle of the stairs...no one was at the table. Nervously, she continued down the stairs, entering the dimly lit dining room and turned her head toward the kitchen at the sound of a plate being placed in the sink. While going through the archway into the kitchen, Molly gaped at who she saw standing there. "Mom!?"
"Hello Molly," Bronwyn said, with an echo in her voice. "I could feel your heart calling out to me."
"Yes!" Molly cried, coming closer to her. "I'm sure you already know this but...I'm marrying Tay tomorrow."
http://s20.postimg.org/gvec767m5/M_T_wedding_18.jpg
"That's wonderful darling!" Bronwyn said happily. "Oh how I wish I could be there."
"You will be mom," Molly said with glistening eyes, "in spirit."
Bronwyn smiled while taking her daughter's hand. "You seem distressed my dear."
Sniffing and looking down to hide her tears, Molly admitted, "I am! I never thought I would be! I mean...everything has always felt right with me and Tay you know?"
Bronwyn nodded.
"I guess I'm just getting cold feet," Molly said wiping away her tears. "When you were about to marry dad...did you have concerns about it not working out?"
"Of course I did Molly. Every girl has fears on the night before her wedding."
That was a comfort to Molly, but she couldn't stop her tears from falling. "But Mom what if Tay and I don't work out?
http://s20.postimg.org/3sipnwhe5/M_T_wedding_20.jpg
What if he cheats on me? Or what if I get sick of him? Then we'd get a divorce and how could we do that to Shawn!? I'm just...so nervous!"
"Molly," Bronwyn calmed, placing her hand on Molly's shoulder. "Relax. It's going to be ok. You and Tay are meant to be together! Your father feels good about it and so do I. God has joined you two together and with a love as strong as yours NOTHING can break you two apart!"
Molly looked back up at her mom, deeply touched. She began to smile.
"I've always found," Bronwyn continued, "that the Devil always tries to break up a good thing with worry and fears before the day of the big event. That should just be a confirmation to you that what you're doing is right! Stay true to your feelings and trust in God. If your marriage to Tay was the wrong thing, your father and I would've known a long time ago."
With happy tears falling down her cheeks now, Molly embraced her mother. "Thank you so much mom!" she said. "I really needed that!"

"You're welcome honey," Bronwyn said, holding her tightly. "I'm so proud of you."

Meanwhile, in the same room, Sue shifted her weight in bed while dreaming. She too had heard noises from the dining room and went down the stairs to see who was there. When she reached the bottom of the stairs and into the foyer, a figure appeared from the living room beside her.
"Hey!" Sue cried, jumping in fright. "You scared me!"
"Sorry about that," the figure said.
Taking a deep look at the person, Sue asked, "Who are you?"
"My name is Bronwyn," the lady said. "You know who I am."
"Yes!" Sue confirmed. "Michael's wife. My older sibling's mother. It's nice to finally meet you." The two shook hands.
http://s20.postimg.org/w980um8lp/M_T_wedding_21.jpg
'But wait,' Sue thought, 'How is it that I...am SEEING her! Shaking HANDS with her?' This was very strange.
"Same to you Sue," Bronwyn said, but her face expression didn't show sincerity. "I don't have much time...but I had to see you."
"Ok?" Sue said shrugging her shoulders.
"Do you love your father? Michael?"
"Of course!"
"Do you TRULY love him? So much so that you would never want to hurt him?"
Sue's eyebrows shot up. Why was Bronwyn asking her this? "Uh, Yeah!" she replied. "He's always been dear to me. He was my dad, even before my mom and him got married."
Bronwyn pursed her lips. "Then remember that love Sue," she said, "for I sense great hurt and heartache in his future because of you."
Sue's mouth dropped. "Excuse me!?" 'Who is SHE to say something like that to me!?'
"Don't break his heart or you'll regret it for the rest of your life."
"Are you threatening me!?" Sue said to her angrily. "How dare you just walk up to me and say such things!"
http://s20.postimg.org/4aix0vdal/M_T_wedding_22.jpg
Bronwyn held up her hands in defense. "I'm not threatening!" she said. "Only warning you. There will be much regret and sadness in your life if you don't choose your actions carefully."
"I think I know how to take care of myself, thank you very much!" Sue shot back at her.
"Please...I'm only trying to help."
"I don't know what you're getting at, but you're not my mother so I really don't think you should be giving me advice on how to live my life."
Bronwyn just shook her head sadly.
"Besides," Sue continued, "You don't even KNOW me! So why don't you just get the heck out of here!"
http://s20.postimg.org/s08cpkbnx/M_T_wedding_23.jpg
With a sigh, Bronwyn said, "I know more than you think." And with that, smoke began to appear behind Bronwyn, enveloping her and Sue found herself being shot up into the ceiling...and then she woke up.
