Bridgeport literally made me ill, when ever I went downtown with a sim the way it bounced up and down. Dolldrms and several other simmers reported the same thing, and forget it if you wanted normal decent size families. There was just no decent places to place residences. But for the first time since Sims games came out I not only did not spend a solid week playing the new ep town, I could not even stand but three hours. I found myself going to several old worlds and rebuilding them and using select Bridgeport buildings. Of course it never looked as good as a world build for such buildings, but at least it didn't make me ill and I had plenty of room to raise my families. I keep wondering what the Sims 3 team has against families, as since Sims 3 came out they seemed intent on pushing the singles scene and getting us away from the family sandboxes that has always made the Sims games so popular.
But anyway, enough of that, as you obviously figured out how to make a city and families be able to live together in peace and without giving us simmers nausia. I love it.
I have a feeling perhaps my sims didn't do the walk thing because I sent both of them together to first eat at the restaurant in the business building instead of sending them to start skilling on their seperate ways, as the first three skills both needed, and the were hungry at the start for some odd reason, so it worked out and they shared a cab all the way there. I honestly did not watch them go home separately and just assumed they had stayed in the car as by then I was searching for the grocery store and had just clicked on each to go home. Usually unless there is a pathing problems, sims do go home without us having to follow. But I was hoovering over each park bench downtown and even checking underground for the store. it is good to know it was just not there. I could have placed one in the town, but did not want to do it if there was already one there and I was just being blind. By the time I gave up looking, I went back to their house, and both were sleeping in their beds.
I usually like my first visit to a world to see how it handles an infux of sims first. Then secondly I see how sims got from point a to point b just with me filling their Queue with commands. I don't follow them at this point, I just keep an eye on their to do list panel and look for the whole queue list to abruptly close or for a pathing signal to come up. Once I have sent at least one sim to every rabbit hole with no problem, I check the secondary non-rabbit hole Comm lots. These I follow them to because they are made by simmers and sometimes there are tears or something else amiss. I also try to play a household a full work week, so I can see spawners and such. Finally on a day off I will again send a sim from point A to point B, but this time I will lock onto their sim so I can check roads first by car and bike. I will do it yt again with jogging and sidewalks. I obviously had not tested to that point yet or probably would have had at least one incident of the walking over or under the bridge you guys spoke of - I just know they did not do it on the initial trip into town.
