TUTORIAL :: Adding basements to existing houses with foundation :: No demolishing necessary!

STEP 1: Spartan wants a basement, this looks like a good spot! Unfortunately the house is already built and furnished, but that can be easily fixed. No need to demolish whole parts of the house ...

I don't know what I did wrong.. I was able to build the basement and install the stairs but my sims can't use it.. they get the bubble that something is blocking their way.. I finally gave up on it.. thanks for poating.. maybe you might know what I did wrong? :?: :(
