I know this post is really old but I found a really good solution to this glitch. None of the ideas on this forum worked for me unfortunately (thanks for the help though :D) but I found ONE that did!
Download the Master Controller Mod and there is an option under "Household" to "Clean All". I clicked that and the silent flies buzzing noise stopped and the "Disgusted" moodlet started counting down! :D
Hope this helps someone! :)

Thank you Sooo Much MissAnne.
My Sim has a maid, no-one else in the room has this negative moodlet.
My Sim also had this moodlet *days* ago - due to bad food in her inventory.
Even after I dragged the food to the trash, the moodlet remained.
By The Way, I read somewhere that the following is recommended:
CTRL + C
Type "testingcheatsenabled false"
Enter.
This is the first time I've used this a cheat =:o
and it was really needed. Thanks again MissAnne :D- After YEARS of playing this game I have finally found the solution! You have to buy the Karma Power: Good Times for 150 challange reward points in the challange shop and use it on your sim(s). Disgusting smell that lasts for "10 minutes" disappears ?

@Beepix, I do believe that the game you're playing is for console as this thread is for PC which doesn't use karma power in it like the console games do.- EA_Mako4 years ago

Thanks for letting us know how you got around this in your version of the game @Beepix!
That said, please do be mindful of the dates on threads when replying. This is an extremely old thread so I'll be locking it here to prevent further necro-posting.
