Can a Sim die from using the Brain Enhancement Machine?

I heard scuttlebutt that says that you can get singed from a Brain Enhancement Machine, but can your Sim die from using the Brain Enhancement machine (if you have Version 1 - the cobbled together one ...

I don't think so. If your sim is singed, the game won't let you use it. But if you do manage to make your sim use it while singed, they can die...
