- I did this not too long ago. Depends on the content. I transferred saves, saved sims, saved outfits, libraries, and installed worlds (I had CAW worlds and not moving those over would destroy those saves) into their new folders. There might be some others you might want to do, too, if you have say custom music.
My saves work fine. I had to redownload all my packs and store stuff, though. That took an age or two. - Yeah I had to redo the store stuff too. What a pain in the you know what. LOL
- Ugh one thing i've forgotten is what a pain it is to get custom content in this game Sims 4 file placing is so much easier I have a bunch of worlds in my worlds folder, I placed it in my worlds files for the new location but none of them are showing up? What am I doing wrong?
- karritz4 years agoLegendYou will need the files from your Installed Worlds folder too.
I ended up having to reinstall the worlds though. - I have all the files from the worlds folder but when I double click to install it will not install. UGH I am about to give up. :(
- karritz4 years agoLegendThe 'Installed Worlds' folder might be missing in your new Sims 3 folder if you haven't installed any worlds yet. I don't have a 'Worlds' folder, but I do have 'Worlds Caches' that contains .package files.
You will need to place the .Sims3Pack files in your Downloads folder if you want to install the worlds by double clicking them.
EDIT: Are these Store worlds you are talking about? If they are worlds that came with an Expansion and you have to replace them then you'll need to put them into a totally different location.
I don't think you can put the package files for 3rd party CC worlds into the mods folder.
I'm about to go out for a few hours. I'll check back here when I get home. - No custom worlds. I tried placing them in my downloads file, but they still don't show up in my downloads on the launcher, and when I double click o them nothing happens. I am wondering if maybe the launcher is getting confused about the location. Is it normal to have two separate areas for sims 3? One is under Origin Games and just seems to consist of the eps and launcher, the other is under electronic arts and has the actual sims 3 folder with all the mods, saves, etc

Yes that’s normal - karritz4 years agoLegendI'm back.
I only have an Electronic Arts folder on this computer because I didn't install Origin when I got the new computer. I managed to get all of the disks and my base game is pre September 2012 so I can continue on without an Origin folder. That means I can't play my other Origin games but I can live with that. Too many people were having problems with their game tied to Origin.
Someone else who has their game set up with Origin might be able to help you.
But, having said that, I do remember, on my old computer I had an Electronic Arts folder and an Origin Games folder. All of the expansions and stuff packs I had the disks for were in the Electronic Arts folder and all the games I downloaded from Origin were in the Origin Games folder. But that was before they made the change to forcing you to play the game through Origin. - graceymanors4 years agoLegendFor download not showing up on launcher that happens to me to I have to copy and paste the download into the downloads fort about 3-4 times clicking yes if it tells you it’s already to finally get it to show up
