Help with the Vampire T-shirt

Yep, I have experience the Vampire-Shirt problem recently. It started when I went crazy and started downloading loads of sims off of the Exchange. Downloading Sims is risky as sometimes you get a load of stuff that you don't even remember seeing, let alone downloading!

So, the V-Shirt is something I put into No. 2 of my two categories of Bad CC, which is 'CC that cannot be got rid of so easily.' If I remember correctly, after going through a whole load of stuff in order to get rid of the V-Shirt, I found that one thing did it for me, although I'm not sure it will be the case for everyone! It was what someone else suggested on another forum. Because the V-Shirt does not appear in the 'installed content' tab in the Launcher, you have to make it show up. So what I did was went into my SavedSims Folder, (/ElectronicArts/TheSims3/SavedSims)and just deleted everything in the folder. To be honest, I didn't really expect it to work but when I went on the launcher (installed content) the picture showed up for it! Then I was able to delete the shirt and I have never had to face the V-Shirt problem since! You will be able to recognize the picture immediately as it is a really weird girl vampire (shown on crinrict's Bad CC page)

If this doesn't seem to work, please reply and I will try and recall what other methods I used in order to get rid of it. :mrgreen:

Hi! I tried the first thing you posted (deleting the installed content in my saved sims) then went back and launched the game and it still wasn't there :( So I thought I would try to just open the entire game and see if it was still in my clothing and the game just crashed....

I followed the link you gave me but I am SOOOO lost lol...... Maybe you could try to tell me how you did it? I'm not extremely computer savvy but I have gotten rid of bad CC before. I don't even know where this came from the only thing I have downloaded recently was a house that I had problems with so I deleted it, maybe the contents were hidden in the lot? Either way it's ruining my playing time lol....

Update, I did find the Vampire shirt in my game uploads.....deleted it but my game is still crashing so I don't know what to do without deleting the package number, there must be a new one......

I don't remember my game crashing at any point during this problem (even when I had the V-shirt in CAS) so I am thinking that perhaps it is another issue which is causing your game to crash. My guess would be that you downloaded something that has interfered with your game and when it runs, it just crashes.

My suggestion? Hmm, well instead of removing ALL your CC as a first resort(which would be a pain) I would not suggest doing, because for one thing, it is still not guaranteed it will work. And two, because it is annoying for you, especially if you've downloaded a lot of CC and it is only one piece that is causing the problem.

I am not necessarily saying that the CC IS the problem, it is just a theory as a lot of the problems on the forums which include game crashes and freezing is to do with Bad CC. What I would suggest firstly, is that you open up the Launcher and click 'Installed Content'. Then, at the top there should be a little checkmark box which says 'Run without Custom Content'. Check the box and run your game again. If the game works, obviously you know it is something to do with the CC. <-- If it is that, tell me and we will go from there.

If this doesn't work, close the game down and uncheck the 'Run without Custom Content' box. When you are still on the 'Installed Content' tab, look through the list and delete anything that comes up in the website you mentioned before,(http://sims3.crinrict.com/badcc/en/BadCC_Clothing.html) Don't forget that Bad CC may be 'hidden' (May have a different file name or a different picture to make it harder to locate) but hopefully that website should help. Also, make sure you are deleting the CC from 'Installed Content', not 'Downloads' as otherwise this will not remove it.

Let me know if any of this works or not, and we will go from there! :mrgreen:

2. Confused about the forum I posted in? Yup, I can sorta see why. Don't worry about it too much, it was just a written form of my problem at the time and I thought it might help a bit. Crinrict posted in this forum (the person who made the website I gave the link to) and I thought you might understand all the 'technical talk' as I call it better than I did at the time!

Okay, package number ie 0x6cd59455e4d12667fa7eb50bdda87cec.package when you delete the Vamp Shirt you then have to do a search for that number that coincides with it found here: http://sims3.crinrict.com/badcc/en/BadCC_Clothing.html

It didn't come up before or after I found the Vamp shirt, so I'm confused usually if you have bad CC you can find the package number by doing a search on your computer, deleting it and then your game is good. I'm usually very diligent with my downloading and don't do much of it after my last fiasco and had to redo my entire game. yikes don't want to do that and I wish I had seen your post about the long lined baby because I had the same thing, it was that dumb Rose Horsey thing lol.....

Anyway, I did run it without CC and it worked, but here's the problem, again I don't have much CC on my game but a lot of the stuff that I actually purchased from the store (not the EP's) was missing, even from my "buy option" in the game. All my Rabbit Hole (Mad Hatter items) and all the clothing and items I purchased were gone too :( So I can't run it without CC or anything I purchased won't show up.

Here's another thing, one of the items I have in my CC are these overalls, I believe only ONE of them is the one that came with the Pets EP, there are others that I didn't download and every time I go to delete them it says I can't because the kids in the town or something (sorry didn't pay much attention, will try it again) however, they've been there forever and never have been a problem before......hmmm...lol

Ah, I see what you mean about the package number. Sorry it didn't really make sense to me at the time. If I am understanding correctly, the package number will be in C:\Users\(You)\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\DCBackup. If the package number isn't in DCBackup, you obviously can't delete it again so leave it.

I am glad to hear that your game has worked by checking the tickbox that says 'Run without custom content'. This signifies that it is probably something to do with Bad CC which is corrupting your game. You explained that you have a lot of store content which did not show up in the game when running without CC, but if I am honest I can't really make many accurate suggestions about that seeing as I do not tend to purchase items from the store, only from the exchange. My guess for now would be that certain store items are classed as CC, therefore temporarily removing them from the game when you check that button. It will probably show up again when you recheck the button.

Regarding the overalls... could you possibly print screen it and attach a photo to this thread so I can see? That way I can compare with mine (I also have Pets EP)and tell you which are CC. Perhaps that message mentioned that you cannot delete it as the kids around town are wearing those articles of clothing. If you could check again it would be a great help. The clothes (if they are not from Pets) obviously installed themselves when you downloaded something new. Again, if you can attach a picture then I'll look into it for you.

Hi, just wanted to give you a quick updated, still working on trying to figure out what CC is causing this, I have deleted a lot of stuff from the exchange (didn't have much, but I believe a lot of them are downloaded with the lots I've downloaded from the exchange and maybe that's where it's coming from). Fortunately I don't use a lot of exchanged items and I purchase more than I download, however, they somehow have anything you purchase from the store listed as CC so when you run the game without it, everything you purchase is gone :( I suppose I could just save the game and then redo my master bath lol....but I'd like to get whatever is causing it off my game.

The thing about the Vamp shirt is, it wasn't there before the game started crashing and the only thing I downloaded was this lot (residential home) and that's when it all started happening and I was lucky enough to get into "plan outfits" and just happened to see this weird thing and clicked on it and it was the Vamp shirt! :evil:

The overalls, I can't put up a picture because they don't show up as overalls lol......all I know is that a pair comes with EP Pets and there are about 3 or 4 others that I can't delete due to kids wearing them. :roll:

I will get back to you later when I have a little more time today, going to do some things then try to delete more CC, but if you have some other ideas, I'm willing to check later and try those first!

Can I just say that it would be wise not to download from the exchange unless you trust the creator. I don't think you would want to go though this problem again.

Also I would recommend the CUSTARD tool. You can just open the sims3pack and then delete the bad cc before installing it :)

I don't know about anyone else, but at the time I had the same V-shirt problem I found Custard horribly confusing; the download AND the explanation, even using crinrict's website. I don't know if I was just being a technophobe at the time (more than likely :mrgreen: )but does Custard help packs that have already been installed into your game or is it just before?

I try and avoid downloading new software (makes my computer slower and never sure if safe) which is why I have fixed this problem manually. :D

Ugh...I can't even get the game to load now, it shuts down before it actually loads up :p

Okay I didn't know what that custard thing was, lol...but after my last snafu I was very diligent with what I downloaded, nothing from Germany and made sure it had a lot of recommendations. I barely download and again it was probably about 5 sims and maybe 10 lots, I usually just make purchases.

I will definitely figure out that custard thing (thanks!).....and will probably have a lot of questions regarding that.....
