I don't consider my sims' future descendants to be a hint of what they should do themselves, but rather as a hint as to who their children or grandchildren will marry. One of my past single sims' descendants had the last name of her neighbors across the road, a couple with young children. The husband/father of that household had hit on her and kept sending her letters and gifts in the mail. But there is no way I would ever consider having her marry him. My sims don't get involved with other sims' spouses. But if I were to continue to play succeeding generations, I would consider having them marry into the other family.
