I'm sure this was already asked

but, I want to be able to use my old already made wallpapers that I made for sims 2 in sims 3.

Now I have searched the web and I have searched almost all the forums and read every tutorial out there that says use one program that you have to download, then use another program that you have to down load and then use this program cause that one doesn't have the plug in and so forth and so on. Now I have downloaded so many programs and done so many things and even have asked in a forum that chastised me for asking a question I'm sure has been asked millions of times before. And still I don't know how to do it.

I am so hoping someone here does and is willing to teach me how to do it.

Now I don't want to have it recolor-able and it needs to be the full 512x256 option cause it's not in sections. I just want to be able to stick it in the game and use it for the house I'm building without so much stress about having to use masks.

I have Gimp, but the plug in for it won't work, says it's missing some .dll file (go figure) so I have PSCS 5 and it has the plug in that was needed for this. But how do I do this without cloning someone elses work (cause to me that's messing up someone else hard work and I hate doing that) I just want to add the finished wallpaper the way it is (512x256) into my game and that's it. No masking if possible.

Please someone help me out with this? I'm desperate and going insane looking and searching for almost two days now for the answer.
  • How to make a sims 3 pattern from a simx 2 pattern =
There is a simple way to do this, depending on where the pattern is.
Was the sims 2 pattern downloaded to a web site that is still open?
If yes, then go to the site and copy the pattern.
Open your software, like photoshop or paint shop pro.
    Paste as a new image.
    Resize it.
If the resize is too blurry, then you will have to do a bit more.
Double the size of the new image. Example, if the new image is 100 x 100, resize the canvas size to 200 x 200.
Copy and paste into the 200 x 200.
Repeat this step until the image is 400 x 400.
    Resize the 400 x 400 to 256 x 256.
This is will then be able to use in CAP to make a pattern.
If you want to make a wall, that is a different story.
But it also can be done fairly simply.
Let me know if it is a wall and I will post those directions.
    Happy pattern making.

    Hi, :)

Do you still have TS2 installed?

I've used TS2 HomeCrafter Plus to get some of TS2 wallpapers/floors for TS3. Open TS2 HomeCrafter Plus, choose your pattern to edit- and I used the Print Screen key to copy the whole screen, opened Paint and pasted it on.
Cut it down to what I wanted- just the pattern and none of the rest of the screen.
Saved it as a .jpg on my desktop (it was already even in size).
Then opened up Create a Pattern and installed the pattern (clicked on Add a New Sticker). You can adjust it's size in there- up to 256x256 (it's the whole screen at that size).

Don't need any new fangled things.
