Is the exchange safe? What about The Sims Resource? What are some good cc sites?

So I heard that the Sims 3 exchange is the worst place to download from. But I really like the clothes,hair,etc.I don't download lots or Sims, because that is bad and i know that. But how bout the clo...

Also I highly recommend Mod the Sims. Not as large a selection as TSR, but most of it seems to be pretty high quality. I've never had anything from there crash my game.
