I can’t get my sims to graduate from high school?

I receive a pop-up notification informing me that x number of Sims are graduating and asking if I would like to hold the ceremony that day. I think it shows up sometime after midnight. If you click 'no' by accident, it should remind you again in a few days. My last graduation ceremony was held on a Friday, and everyone received a paid day off to attend.
