I think it was the 1.17 patch that came out October 26 2010, along with the Late Night Expansion. I know I had one or two Error 12's before that, but after I had installed Late Night Ep it took quite a few years before it happened again, and this time it was with an old (155 Sim weeks) and rather overpopulated save/world.
