@lumpieddililu  I'm so glad you finally got your packs.  The Download button not working is the kind of error that shows up every once in a while to give players headaches, and it can have a few different causes.  The last time around, the problem was on EA's end and was fortunately fixed quickly.

There were also a couple of people who had the Origin "technical preview" (beta) installed and needed to disable it.  People that have it see the words technical preview along the top of your Origin window.  If you do, please disable it: hover over your username, select Application Settings, and under Application (the first header), scroll down to Client update and disable the option to participate in technical previews.  Then quit Origin, restart your computer, open Origin again, and try to download the packs.

If that doesn't help, please run the Origin reset tool (yes, again), then repair the base game: open your game library, right-click on the Sims 3 icon, and select Repair.

    good morning dear puzzlezaddict,

and once again i thank you very much for your helpfulness.

in all my desperate research i saw that you help super many users, crazy how many answers you know and nice that you share them 🙂

reset origin unfortunately did not work and the technical preview version I apparently also do not use. I suspect something is wrong with me, because the expansion packs are also not displayed under the new 64 bit version, but still under the old, even if I now have "download" to the option, which was not displayed before... or is that normal?

I wish you a nice day,

    greetings from Nico 🙂

@lumpieddililu  I didn't realize you hadn't received the 64-bit versions of your packs.  The issue is the same as before: you apparently don't have the entitlements.  Trying to download the 32-bit versions of the packs won't work either.  So unfortunately, you'll need to go back to support yet again and request those entitlements.  There's no way to add them yourself.

    good morning 🙂

okay wow, I dork :D then I deal with the support again :D many, many thanks!
maybe you still have a tip for me, with sims 4 your advice has worked wonderfully and it no longer crashes - but unfortunately sims 3 at regular intervals... here I can not find the function of the vertical sync, do you happen to have another idea?

have a nice day and kind regards

i have already tried some tips you have given to other users with similar problems:

    - play in windowed mode
    - lower graphics settings
    - deleted oprions.ini
    - pets is not installed yet
    - turned off automatic synchronization with iCloud

my game also doesn't crash in certain moments, like when traveling. it was completely different situations so far, for example very suddenly in live mode or in build mode. Mods I have not installed so far (although I would more than like to have the book of talents, but I do not understand with this MacBook anyway, how I get it into the game. with windows it was easier back then :D)

@lumpieddililu  For Sims 3, the vertical sync setting is stored with the resolution settings, for some reason.  So within options.ini (in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3), you'll see something like this:

    resolution = 2560 1440 0

That zero is supposed to be for vertical sync; try changing it to 60.  The issue is, I don't know whether the v-sync setting actually works—it definitely does not in either the 32-bit Mac version or the Windows version.  Still, it's easy enough to try.  You may also have to enable vertical sync in the settings at the Main Menu.

As far as mods go, they're installed the same way they are in Windows.  If you need a refresher course, this is a good guide:

    Dear puzzlezaddict

both of your answers were worth their weight in gold again (I don't know if I can say that in english :D), thanks a lot!

my game runs much longer since i regularly change the 0 at resolution to 60 or even 70.

and also your link for the mod installation has helped me a lot! I'm actually a bit out of practice, although felt half my youth consisted of Sims :D:D

now I have again a problem that I do not know from sims on windows:
In some perspectives of the camera orientation the complete screen turns red. this limits the game quality significantly ☹️
i attach a screenshot of it to this message.
do you know this problem by chance?

best regards and have a nice day 🙂

@lumpieddililu  I'm so glad to hear your game is running better, and thanks for the feedback on the setting.  Since I don't have an M1 Mac, I can't test myself, so any feedback is quite valuable.  (The saying also exists in English by the way.)

The red screen is unfortunately a problem on any computer running the 64-bit version, for reasons that aren't yet clear.  You can post about it here if you want:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/CURRENT-ISSUE-64-bit-red-flashing-game-window/m-p/9664938#M12080

So far, all I can say for certain is that it appears to be specific to buildings, not lots, and that the more complicated ones are more likely to be affected.  Zooming in can help, as can moving the camera or changing the angle.  It's possible that some objects or textures are the root cause, but I haven't found any patterns yet, and even the same houses don't always trigger the behavior on different computers.
