My guess is that the Steam patch is messed up. Try the steam forum to see if there are any solutions.

Just put all content from your old folder into the english one. The two are probably problems are probably related but if you copy everything to the new folder, you should have everything back.

    The thread solved the language problem.

    And the EA launched a new patch, that.... i don't know for sure... seems to had fixed the problem.
