Re: sims 3 64bit Mac crashing

@Sopolainen  To set a baseline for performance, please try playing a new save in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you open the launcher, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  Don't add anything to it yet, and don't change any settings, unless you want to switch the resolution or use windowed mode; just start a new save in Sunset Valley and see how it runs.

If the game crashes, load it to the Main Menu, put the settings on low, quit to desktop, load another new save, and let me know whether you still have issues.

This will not delete your existing saves and other files: everything will be in the Sims 3 folder you moved, but the game won't be reading that data.  Once things are stable, you can start adding content back.  However, since some of that content may be a problem, it's important to test anything you want to keep using.

@Sopolainen  That's progress, at least.  Please try again, but this time, don't open any other apps aside from Origin, and take your computer offline first.  You can sign into Origin and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi and/or disconnect the ethernet cable before pressing Play.

Please also post the full specs of your Mac: everything under About This Mac except for the serial number.

@Sopolainen  Is this still with the game on low settings, playing in a new save in Sunset Valley, and with Pets disabled?  Did you add any other content, e.g. mods or custom content?

And yes, that's the information I was looking for.  Additionally, please go back to the same info page, click Storage (should be the third tab from the left), and let me know how much free and total storage your Mac has.

@Sopolainen  Is it possible your computer is overheating?  You should definitely hear the fan running while you play, that's normal, but no spot on the computer should be too hot to touch.  In particular, check the space between the keyboard and screen hinge as well as the underside of the chassis.

Please also try playing in a new user account.  Make it an admin account and don't sign in with your Apple ID.  Play on low settings, again without Pets installed, and see whether it makes a difference.
