You are a blessing really! Nothing was helping and I tried everything I could and was on the brink of giving up. Thank you so much I can’t express my gratitude! I love playing sims and you just about saved my life with this solution LOL thank you! 

I just tried this (2/19/22) after the Windows 11 update. When I downloaded from that link, I did not have to find "directx_Jun2010_redist.exe" - there was not file with that name. I was able to jump straight to double clicking the "DXSETUP.exe". Wanted to share my findings in case someone else had the same experience. But it worked for me as well, I'm so grateful for this solution!!! Many thanks!

@Kryptoniteshawty  That's just a location of the dxdiag on your computer; I can't do anything with it.

Please attach that file to a reply here.  You can do that by clicking the Browse button that's next to the paper clip icon and below the text field where you write your reply.

did all that exactly and still wont work ☹️ 

@Kryptoniteshawty  That's one of the workarounds, yes.  Please read the directions carefully, and make sure to apply the workaround to the correct .exe: TS3.exe if you've installed through Origin or the EA App, TS3W.exe (with the W) if you've installed from disc or Steam.

Hi, i have similar problems, my the sims 3 launcher wont open, it goes back to ea app. Ive tried so many things, please helppp

@LuizaAguiar  Please manually uninstall and reinstall .NET Framework 3.5.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "appwiz.cpl" without quotes, then click "Turn Windows features on or off."  Find .NET 3.5 on the list, near the top; the box should be filled in.  Click that box to uninstall, then restart your computer.  Repeat the process, except now you're clicking the empty box to install .NET 3.5.  If the box is already empty, just click it and restart your computer.

If this doesn't help, please manually install DirectX 9, as described here:

You'll notice that you can choose the location where you extract the files after downloading, or at least you should see that option.  If you don't, then use a different browser.
