I'm in freaking Canada, has nothing to do with FIOS or the ISP to my knowledge. In beta it was glorious, and really fun. First week I think of owning the game, great. After that though, I can no longer play, with average 125 ping, all the way up to 400. This is RIDICULOUS.
FWIW, my ISP is Source Cable, a local cable Internet (you don't say) company. Only way I could get unlimited bandwidth, screw you Bell.

IT has everything to do with FIOS. Your ISP is probably just doing the same thing as Verizon. Read this thread. http://www.reddit.com/r/titanfall/comments/222t1b/lagging_on_verizon_fios_use_a_vpn_more_in_comments/

I'll try to find a free VPN to test this, but are you saying those in Australia and those on TWC are also being routed to DC?

No I am saying that the ISP is routing people to other ISPs that aren't close to the nearest datacenter resulting in a longer ping time. For Fios that happens to be Washington DC.
They do this to save money because the ports to a more direct path are overloaded because your ISP refuses to upgrade their hardware.
