Question

Ok chaps!&nbsp;Yesterday I decided to load up The Secret World as I hadn't played it since I upgraded to the EVGA 660 SC 2gb and I wanted to see if the lag and poor framerates had improved since before.I was wondering around when, suddenly, the game crashed to desktop in a very similar way to what I was experiencing with Titanfall.&nbsp; I attempted to replicate the crash and checked my temperatures at that moment and noted that my card suddenly reached 85C!!!&nbsp; and BAM! Crash to desktop.&nbsp; One other thing I noticed was that the temperature rose suddenly and, if I hadn't have ALT+TABbed at exactly that moment, I wouldn't have even noticed this sudden peak as the fans kicked it around that time and it was back to a comfortable temperature within a matter of seconds.This got me thinking..... considering I was running at an average FPS of 110 (No mean feat in The Secret World, I can tell you) I decided to set the Vsync to on in the Nvidia control panel.&nbsp; I started up the game again and managed to play for a lot longer.... then BAM! Crash to desktop again.&nbsp; I checked the temperatures and, once again, there was this sudden peak and then the fans kicked in.&nbsp;&nbsp; I did note, however, that I was getting more playtime so I decided to keep Vsync on in the control panel.I then went into Precision X and decided that I really needed to do something about the fan kicking in too late..... so clicked "Fan Curve" and changed it so it was a far steeper setting, making it so the fan is at 50% at 40c, 60% at 50C, 75% at 60C, 95% at 70C and then 100% fan at anything higher.&nbsp; I also remembered to click "Enable Software Automatic Fan Control".&nbsp;I loaded up The Secret World and, lo and behold...... no more CTD!This got me thinking about a certain other game..........And you know what?&nbsp; I now have Titanfall with everything on High settings and so far, fingers crossed, it hasn't crashed!&nbsp; I've played two rounds of Classic so far without any problems at all.&nbsp; One thing I did notice, however, was that the fan kicks in round about the second time I climb into my Titan and there is heavy gunfire going on around me!&nbsp; ie.&nbsp; Just as the battle is getting really exciting.... exactly the time it would usually crash!Anyway, folks... give this a try and let me know how it goes for you!&nbsp;&nbsp; ATI users...... I'm guessing you guys have something like Precision X?&nbsp; Try similar.So that is:Set Vsync on in the Nvidia control panel.Start up Precision XChange fan curve so:50% @ 40C60% @ 50C75% @ 60C95% @ 70C100% for everything higher.Click "Enable Software Automatic Fan Control" and then OKStart up Titanfall with everything on High, no AA, no Vsync.&nbsp;

I have a GTX660ti.I downloaded MSIAfterburner and enabled fan curve as suggested by&nbsp;Spleneticflume.&nbsp;I have played for about 45 mins now without crash, this is the longest time I have been able to play this game.&nbsp;😕mileyvery-happy:&nbsp;Thanks Spleneticflume.&nbsp;&nbsp;To EA: My PC sounds like a tractor and im not ok with that.&nbsp;&nbsp;*EDIT* - Just crashed, interestingly my mates PC crachsed at EXACTLY the same momemt, same game, same card (he is sitting right next to me).

"EA" isn't here.&nbsp; Not as such.&nbsp; This is Answers HQ, a gamer to gamer Self-Help kind of place.&nbsp;

You may have a higher fan speed than actually required currently selected, and should consult the instructions for MSI Afterburner for further tuning.&nbsp;&nbsp; Whether or not a heat spike is the cause can only be confirmed by obtaining and installing a thermal logging utility and comparing its readings to experience.

I think that with crashes like this, there may be multiple reasons (Sometimes system specific) for them happening. Some folks found underclocking helped, which would also lower the heat produced by the card, so I am definitely thinking there is an issue of heat at the heart of this.

I would suggest making the settings a little steeper than I did? Try to aim towards keeping the GPU at around 60-70C with heavy load. I've lowered my textures to medium now also as I was getting a little bit of a stutter in serious firefights and, frankly, this game is so fast paced I don't even really notice the difference visually. Sure... you can tell when you start staring at the little details but, frankly, you stop for a second and you're a gnat's nad from getting headshot anyway. lol Still no crashes, though. 🙂

Which specific part did you and your mate crash at? I remember there was a specific event that was causing crashes for people but I can't remember what it is and, if I'm honest, I can't be bothered to look it up. lol
