PC Graphics problem since June Update

I don't really undersand in wich way rebooting my computer and installing new drivers should help to solve this problem, because my friend had a similar problem (in Battlefield 3) which wasn't solved by that, but I guess I am not professional enough to say that it's useless.
But why should we do that at all if it has already been said that a patch is in work ? Does that mean the patch has been canceled and we have to solve the problem ourselves or should that only be another possible solution wich is independent from the patch that is hopefully comming in the next days ?
That is confusing me a little bit ...
Anyway it would be nice to hear if the patch will be released at all and if it will be released I would like to hear when it will be available.
