Funny how I also am a QA dude...
You more than anyone understands how soul shattering it is coming from a busy day at work to troubleshoot/test a game you actually want to play and enjoy. Their PC compatibility tests must have been really shallow and I don't even know if I should hope for a fix in the coming week. It seems like they outsourced their compatibility tests to a **bleep**ty QA lab.
It really is disheartening. It's like I'm going home to pay to do my job. Right now I just really want to hear from a dev. I just want them to say "we're working on it," that's all I need to hear to keep what little hope of playing this game I have. What's the most upsetting to me is that I chose this over Darksouls II, I could have been playing something amazing tonight but instead I sit at my PC trolling tech help boards, scouring for a way to play the game that I, and everyone else in this thread, paid for.

From what I can gather, it is not a super wide spread problem, although it is definitely affecting some users. I don't anticipate a fix for this, for a while. Typical EA garbage.

Yeah, this is really bumming me out. Just let me know a fix is coming, and I'll be happy. I want to be able to play this game, I truly enjoy it when I can play it, but right now, I can't.

So @titanfallsledge are we going to hear from the devs on this?
- Anonymous11 years ago
Yeah, this is really frustrating. I mean everyone's posted the "Faulting module name: materialsystem_dx11.dll" part which tells them what is triggering the crash. I just want to know 1) if they have figured out what's going on. 2) if they haven't _why_ and what are they doing to figure it out? 3) a ballpark estimate on when we can expect something. 4) hopefully some sort of janky fix we can use in the meantime....

Rolled back to older driver versions, did not help. Tried all the other stuff as detailed in previous posts.

Currently on live chat with "sandeep." First he told me to disable my antivirus and firewall. I told him there was no way I was doing that and leaving my computer open to every kind of security threat just to play the game. Now he is talking about opening ports. I am trying to make him understand this is not a connection-related issue. There is no problem with connecting to servers or anything like that. It is the game application itself that crashes. He has no clue.

So I just got through 2 rounds, which is two more than I was able to for the last 3 hours and did the following.
I noticed that this showed up in system event logs "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."
I'm on 8.1 so I used this fix listed here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2665946, had to right click, properties, run a previous version.
Installed the Aero Light theme (this is probably completely unnesscary but I'm willing to do anything at this point and supposidly it helps graphics cards play nice with windows)
I upped the voltage clock on my card (don't try this at home kids).
And managed to play two rounds going to attempt to squeeze in a few more, see if the fix sticks.
On a side note I am noticing that my performance seems slightly worse than it was but it could just be me.

"Sandeep" is no going on about some supposed "server maintenance" that is happening. He cannot get it through is head I am not complaing about a connection issue. Useless.

You're wasting your time with that in regards to this type of issue. All you get with chat/phone support is level 1 peons that 90% of the time are not technical people. Regardless of what support channel you go through, the first person you talk to will rarely, if ever, be able to assist with a truly technical problem and are just reading from a script. Even then, it's extremely unlikely with this type of issue that anybody in a helpdesk capacity will be able to assist. This needs dev attention, not customer support/helpdesk attention.

I know. I am not really expecting him to offer a useful fix, I just want some acknowledgment that this is a problem and it is being looked at.
I gave up and disconnected when the first thing he suggested after finally getting off of his server/port fixation was to do a system restore. A system restore to before I got Titanfall, presumably. Yes, before I got Titanfall, I had no problem with Titanfall! Ingenious!

So after applying my previous fix, I now got a more unique crash with a new fun system warning "Application Titanfall.exe has been blocked from accessing Graphics hardware." very interesting.
lmao 6+ pages of the same issue and its not a wide spread issue to you?
I think its a windows issue myself, and at the least a driver issue because other games I play such as COD Ghosts, Insurgency crash with similar errors, so I doubt that its 100% the developers fault.
AMD FX 8300
16 GB AMD Gamer Series RAM
ASUS Sabertooth fx990 MB
GTX 770
My specs should play any game at max settings with no crashes or errors.
And just another little bit of reasoning why I think its more than developer issues, I previously had a Radeon r7 260x which the games listed above crashed on as well.
I'm thinking it's something about the version of DX Titanfall installs, I had zero issues with my PC and now after all of this crap I also just had a crash in Metro LL with the same type of error. It may not be devs fault but this didn't happen before Titanfall.
- Anonymous11 years ago
Have you tried other games?
- Anonymous11 years ago
I think i've noticed some minor performance issues but I mean the event viewer in windows is reporting it's related to dx11, the dx11 installer in the _Installers folder does "nothing" at all when you try to run it, and full driver reinstalles, etc. do nothing to fix the issue. Just want a response....
- Anonymous11 years ago
I've had the issue too sometimes I can play about 4 matches before it happens sometimes I can only get through one and as soon as the second one starts bam. It's very frustrating because all I want to do is play the game but at this point I think I might just want a refund if this doesnt get resolved because it's just too frustrating at this point.

I forgot to say my graphics card is GeForce gtx555 not that I think it has anything to do with graphic cards at this point

GTX660Ti, Windows 7. Same issue as these. Really bloody annoying.

So ever since I had done this my game crashes a lot less often. It's not perfect but I went from crashing every round to not crashing for about two hours. After the game crashes there is no way to play again without restarting, I think the game crashing also crashes your graphics driver and makes it completely unusable, hence why my Metro LL was crashing also. I managed to play for about two hours last night without a single crash and this was the last major change I had done. I also found that a slight overclock/voltage upgrade will help smooth out the games frame rate substantially for me. I went from 45-55 on maps like Lagoon to a solid 60. I have a GTX 580 and upped my clock from 770 to 850 and my voltage to 1.125 (I have very good cooling and my temps never went above 68c don't overclock if you don't know how or don't have the proper cooling.)

you shouldnt have to overclock ..

There have been people including me that had similar experience with overclocking or reducing details (you can start the game with -safe flag, sets everything to lowest). However i think this is more of a bandaid to a bigger problem. I noticed yesterday when i was able to play normally for a couple of matches that my gfx (EVGA 670gtx) was around 70C at all times. Which is quite odd considering my standard operating temperature at 100% power is 85C stable (while doing OCCT burn test, furmark etc.). What i noticed right between the crash is the temperature rose to 80 for no good reason and then the game crashed. I'd also like to note that in beta i could play in 6h sessions without any issues whatsoever.
