I've returned the game too.
I had issues, during the beta, but it still worked once or twice. I hoped that they would use the data from the beta to fix issues like this, but with the release version I cannot connect at all. I have no issues with any other online games and tried everything including putting my gaming pc in the DMZ to completely exclude any local issues in my network.
I figured that I don't want to waste $80 on a game that does not work at all and asking for a refund is probably a good way to get it on EA's radar. I'm hoping that some executives have got to be keeping an eye on the requests for refunds as it will affect their bottom line and their customer satisfaction. I would consider repurchasing this in future if I hear that some resolution has been found for this problem.

This issue resolved?Sadly not. There's a more active thread regarding this one here http://answers.ea.com/t5/Titanfall/Connection-Issues-for-Xbox-One-and-PC/m-p/2486054#U2486054
