  • @Xenonn1c While this is great news, I play on PS4 and, as far as I'm aware of at least, it doesn't include Origin, so that doesn't seem to apply to me. I may have another go at it later today if I find the time, if so, I'll return with an update about how things are running on console now. Thanks for sharing this.
  • @Xenonn1c Hello, do you have any idea how to do this for Titanfall 2 on the EA desktop app. I'm getting the same issue but i'm using the Xbox gamepass version.
  • NEW FIX TO THE MAIN GAME:

    Origin>Titanfall 2> Game Properties> Advance launch option> Type (+communities_enabled 0) no brackets.

    The fix above works.

    However.

Because Northstar has taken away a few players.

I rather think Respawn, bless their little cotton socks, have taken the opportunity to reduce server power to Titanfall 2.

This is why you wait now 10 minutes for a game.

    Sometimes it's less/whatever.

The games are sometimes laggy etc.

    Just lack of server power.

Respawn just seems to have lost interest in Titanfall 2 and the players who like it.

Obviously they will not say that outright.

It's a shame and I think they are making a mistake. But hey, that's life.

Not communicating with the player base is just making it worse.

I am puzzled by their actions, or should I say non-action.

Very odd behaviour which will have a future cost re their reputation going forward.

Definitely NORTHSTAR is now your best bet for Titanfall.

    They actually care.

I've discoverded CYBERPUNK 2077. Which is brilliant.

So with Northstar and Cyberpunk I'm sorted.

  • Hey I did this, I can now go on online but every time I join a game it just shuts down again, so you know what this could be or how to fix it?

I haven't been on yet to play Titanfall 2 to check this.

However think you may mean the error you get sometimes that kicks you. Not sure.

If it is that error ... 'error  connection to server timed out'...  you just start multiplayer again and the 2nd time should be fine.

These days the waiting times are about 5/10 minutes to get a match.

    Something may have changed though.

    I'll check it out.

K, played 5 games. Won all of them, our team I mean.

    They were good. Not laggy.

Timed out on the 3rd game about half way through. 'error  connection to server timed out'

Waited about 2/3 minutes to play each game.

    So not bad.

Now off to play Cyberpunk 2077....My favourite game at present.๐Ÿ™Œ

    Hello.

    Me too.

See the post here : https://answers.ea.com/t5/Titanfall-2/If-you-are-experiencing-game-crashes-when-you-try-multiplayer/td-p/11284358

I have been able to play lots of matches today with this command line, but if I click on networks it crashes again.  The bug isn't fixed, but with typing in the command line as described in the post, it works and you will enjoy parties again !

I hope Respawn will fix this bug permanently.

See you in the battle pilots !

Best solution: Play Northstar. They aren't gonna fix titanfall anytime soon.

The command line works as I got into a game yesterday but tried today and the main advercot network had 8 players online 8 thats ridicoulous it really is it used to have around 2000 per night, Steam charts shows 484 people but with Respawn not giving 2 FFs about this game its going to be dead completely, it's like they want it to die.

Battlefield 2042 is a joke and EA pushed that broken piece of crap over TF2 which is a great game

@Nakatomi_Uk Agreed, and I sadly think you may be right. In all fairness, as a publisher, I don't think EA cares too much about any specific game or brand; they want to make a profit. That's it. When a game no longer is profitable, it's off the table. Titanfall 2, as a game, isn't particularly profitable any more and hasn't been for a couple of years. The Titanfall franchise is still a lucrative brand, though, and if and when Titanfall 3 hits development you can be sure they're going to hype it up. Battlefield 2042 was a major letdown, to be sure, and I imagine what EA wanted was to make up for what they paid for it and then some, that's why they pushed that a bit further. Regarding the state of Titanfall 2, I've been informed that the upkeep and repairs are on the developer's side of the table, not on the publisher's. In short, EA invests money into a project that (in this case) Respawn is in charge of leading, producing and perpetually take care of. After release, EA will regain their investment money through sales, and that's the done deal. Respawn are supposed to handle the servers and security issues of Titanfall, not EA. I suppose EA could toss Respawn a few buckets of cash to sort out the staffing issues getting in the way of Respawn prioritizing a fix, but that would be money lost and entirely goodwill on EA's part.
That's how I understand it, and no, I don't necessarily like it. I want the game fixed, preferably turbocharged with a few updates, but that's unlikely to happen.
  • I unknowingly confirmed what the issue is.  Have been playing under my own network for years.  Switched to Advocate Network yesterday (because I saw. YouTube vid that said switching to the Advocate Network allows you to invite players into games and that seems to help with the Dow issue) and it immediately crashed.  Tried going back in several times but the game loads, lobby screen appears for a second or two, then quits to desktop.  Being in the Advocate network is the issue and unfortunately, I canโ€™t get out of it as the lobby screen doesnโ€™t stay up long enough to switch Networks.

I tried the following (after experiencing the exact same issue as you did):

    I disabled communities.

    Launched.

Though it crashed, I did manage to play a game. Right before displaying the final score (when people are leaving already) it crashed. Launched TF2 again, crashed a couple of times but then I was fast inside networks.

It stayed there. Ok. So I created a new Network (saved all info required). It did not appear after save.

I tried (as I did previiously) to choose my private networks and buddies (including Frothy's) and obviously it would not allow me as communities were disabled.

Went on to FAQ and chose networks.

When I went back to the previous menu and open Networks, there it was the newly created network. And already chosen and set as active!!

So, exited Titanfall 2, removed communities_enabled altogether, went back in, all stable. Chose my old networks. ALL FINE.

    Problem solved.

Respawn know FULL well what they have been doing to servers and what some "people" have been doing. All this, this is a shame. Titanfall 2, their creation, and a large portion of the community deserved better.

  • @Xenonn1c what about a fix for steam because I got TF2 on the steam sale and I can't find the files for TF2 because it downloaded through steam library.
  • but that is for origin I'm on EA app because of Xbox game pass

EA App doesn't have launch options since it's in "beta" but the community has found a way to add custom launch options. Here is a thread that details it: link

The thread refers to another game but the process is the same. The command you want to put in is: +communities_enabled 0

  • Working like a charm for me, was looking for the solution since yesterday,

    Thank you.
