Re: Titanfall 2 stopped working with 0x887a0020 - DXGI error
I FOUND A FIX and I will leave it here in hopes that moderators won't delete it, so others with similar issues can benefit
So I have been having these DXGI errors what I've tried so far:
- Update and clean install everything (Nvidia and Integrated Intel GPU drivers, Intel one was really frustrating because if your laptop is ASUS guess what no updates other than provided by your vendor are actually available)
- Same above but with DDU
- Repair and check game files through origin and steam
- Same above but in various Admin, compatibility and DPI modes (from properties tab)
- Various commandline argument in Origin => Game properties
- Tweaking.com Windows repair tool
- Uninstall and reinstall Origin and Steam
- Repair, uninstall, reinstall Visual C++ redist version from 2005 till 2019
- Tried almost every combination in Nvidia Panel and of course set the main GPU as Nvidia GPU(Optimal, Performance, High Performance, Driver controlled/application controlled, shader chache on/off, threaded optimization on/off, change physix card etc. you name it)
- TdrLevel = 0 Registry fix using Regedit
Problem: None of these do a damn because it turns out Origin insistently tries to run the game with Intel Integrated graphics (4400 series in my laptop)
Fix: Go to Device Manager, open Display Adapters, Disable Intel Integrated Graphics Adapter, et voila, game had no choice but to run on Nvidia GPU
Edit: So apparently if you disable Integrated Graphics system kinda goes haywire, since a lot depends on it including audio processing for some reason, to get around this issue this is what I did;
- Uninstall Origin
- Disable Intel Integrated Graphics adapter vid Device Manager
- Run game; opens up Steam, Steam installs Origin (In this environment I suppose Origin sets Nvidia GPU as default)
- In Origin setup disabled Share Technical info (or something similar) and start Origin on startup option
- Origin installed, game runs but extremely choppy and 3D objects in wrong places in MP menu
- Alt-Tab and Enable Integrated Graphics, of course game crashes
- Run the game only through Steam without logging into Origin or starting it manually
- Came crashed the second time, but the third time runs perfectly been through 2 matches already
So I'm guessing the key points were installing Origin in an environment where Integrated Graphics were disabled, not logging into Origin at all and running the game through Steam only
If anyone has a similar issue hope this helps, happy hunting
