Titanfall: Black screen on startup [Xbox One]
Description of issue:
Upon launching Titanfall on Xbox One, the initial splash screen pops up, but quickly transitions to a black screen. The black screen never goes away, the game never gets to the initial interactive screen, and he user never gets to play the game.
Steps to Repro:
1. With Gold-level account signed in, attempt to launch Titanfall on Xbox One
2. After the initial splash screen, wait...
Results:
The initial splash screen transitions to a black screen, and the game then fails to progress past this point.
Expected Results:
The game launches, and the short branding video loads up/plays after the transition from the initial splash screen... and the game functions like normal.
Additional Context:
I've had the game since launch. Throughout my experience with Titanfall, I've hit bumps and start-up issues in the past, but they were all fairly short lived. there was a time shortly after launch where I tried to launch the game, and it kicked me out to the Xbox One START screen. I've also had it lock up on rare occasions, but all I'd have to do is exit to the X1 start screen, and "QUIT" the game from there, then restart it, and it would work just fine... but that's not the case here.
Attempts to resolve/mitigate:
Failed. I tried killing the process, and restarting the title. That failed. This is 100% reproducing.
Failed. I tried soft-rebooting the console, and that didn't work.
Failed. I tried Un-installing the game, then re-installing the game. That failed. It's still 100% reproing.
Success! I tried syncing my account to another Xbox One, and then running the game. That worked!
I haven't tried yet, but what may help...
What I have not tried yet, is hard-re-booting on my home Xbox One, and then trying. That might work, since I know I can play on another console.
Suspicions about root cause...
I do tend to hop around from console to console a fair amount. My susicion is that this is a roaming save-game failure scenario. Since X1 saves are cached locally, and then synced with the cloud saves, the issue may stem from some syncing error that's corrupted my local cache... and that's causing the title to fail to launch.
Questions:
- Have others been running into this?
- Is there any way to wipe the local save game cache? I suspect when I uninstalled, and re-installed - the cached save data wasn't touched... and only the actual title bits were removed/re-installed... and therefore, the 'bad save state' might have persisted.
Thank you!!

Hey all,
After a hard/cold reboot, the game is now working fine. Very annoying, though.
