Titanfall error "The Origin desktop aplication is not loaded"

I bought the deluxe edition recently, got this error message after I launched the game. It would go through the EA logo and the Respawn Entertainment logo screens, then it would enter loading screen ...

also, forgot to add that the only other multiplayer game i have on origin is mass effect 3 - I am able to log into that and play multiplayer just fine. It's just titanfall that isn't working
