Do you use 3D effects in your town?

I'm still on Level 15 so don't have a lot of room for cool things - waiting for the power plant - but I have ideas. I have 22 brown houses doing work for me - is that considered a farm? I don't know how you play this game without them if you don't want to spend money. The rest of my Springfield is going to be awesome and when I don't need those houses anymore, poof. :)
