I would try a taller wall for the front. I don't think you can make steps going down in front. The same way my pyramids are flat on the back.
Maybe try layering your step materials. Stone bush stone bush. I'll post a couple pics in a min. to show you the difference.

I layered here. I think it looks better than having the same materials. It doesn't work everywhere though meaning pyramids should be stone. To me the bushes only work because it's a temple with a artistic tranquil feel.

Here I used stone. Obviously the back and left sides don't look perfect. The stones blend together. You would get the same result in the front and right if you are stepping down. Which is the problem you have.
