For sure, I am going to redo all of Squidport and the Christmas area. I am probably also going to re-design the mall area, if not all of downtown.

In general, I'm trying to make everything look wide open and not cramped. I've tried to achieve this by using fewer roads and more water and 3D. I should say that a lot of it (esp the 3D effects) was inspired by some awesome designs by Mokkabee, Pharrah2003, Corkhopper, and Mitzytaz -- see petergeenen's thread to view their amazing work.

Thank you in advance for any comments / suggestions you have! Even nit-picky stuff would be helpful.

I feel like a tool but you said to nit pick.
I would move your volcano lair over to the forest in the corner. It seems out of place where it is.
The other thing that doesn't seem right is your island with the steps. Those steps can't be there in my opinion.
