Show off your 'Forest area' need inspiration!

Perfect timing for the current THOH event ... here is my Haunted Condo in KL

It took awhile to get it so that the characters actually walked the path. When you are designing it's a good idea to test it as you go to see where the programmers have built in parameters for them to make shortcuts.

Good Luck!

  • The Adipose had a thread with a few forest ideas:

And here is the youtube video from that show:

(The forests don't start until about the 20 minute mark)

I recently did some work my campfire/lake/rural residences:

Still a work in progress, but happy so far.

And one more, from my 2nd town - Monsarno Area is pretty forest-y: http://i.imgur.com/omImcf0.jpg?1
  • I have a fair amount of wooded land, around the power plant in the south, and running much of the north east edge of the town. Here's some highlights:

your lake/pond arrangement on the left is perfect, it looks really natural, i've been looking for a place for the ancient pond, i may try this

Actually one of my "secrets" to looking more natural is to rotate every other tree placed so they don't look like identical computer printed patterns. Same with the flowers, always give them a rotate when next to each other.

i am obsessive about rotating trees and bushes haha, when i have 2 trees next to each other and facing the same way i can't help but see it as a copy/paste

another thing i really like for a more natural look is having only half of a bush visible, partially behind a tree or building. just a bit poking around the corner, it helps me get more variety since were limited to just a few kinds of shrubbery
