Of all that I've seen, only 2 have been impressive.
I generally deleted any neighbor who attempts 3D and ALL who possess even the smallest house farm.
This makes me want to friend you just so you can visit me, see my house farm, and delete me in a huff of self-righteous rage.
Then. I'd imagine you exclaiming, "he's playing with his toys wrong!"

What a self righteous indignant.. . The OP asked for opinions about 3D and this is your response to an honest answer . Gees who's the true * in this situation?
To answer the previous response . I find visiting neighbors a total waste of time unless necessary for an event. I keep neighbors to a minimum, 2 permanent neighbors! At most I will have 20-30 during times that call for them and delete them as soon as the event is over.
As far as judging how you play with your toys? Believe me I couldn't give a rat's sphincter, you're just not that important gfyvelinadelinis wrote:
I voted crazy multi-dimensional flying monkey as it was most appealing though
I can't believe I misspelled monkeys! And, no, I didn't have these guys in mind:

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words. I don't want to derail the thread mentioning my favorite designs by all of you: it would go on too long!jackmack010 wrote:

Are these designs you've seen online, and if so, can you direct us to them? I'm glad to get a contrary opinion, and if those two impressed you, they must have been very impressive indeed.izabellatrix wrote:
Often there will be a design that looks okay, but then I spot a little corner or something that's off, and it totally ruins the effect and I can't see it the same after that.
I know from Showcase that you're a top designer, so I hope you'll bear with me here. Do you think there is something inherently off with 3D designs that there will always be something that ruins it for you? Or do you think they're just not done very well very often?- i went with flying monkeys. Ive seen some amazing 3d work, and some terrible ones. I have personally never been able to pull it off, but find myself admiring the ones that get it right.

I don't mean to alarm you, but this entire game is in 3D, so if you place any building or decoration, you've just made a 3D design :P
Think about it ;)

I have several neighbors who, IMO, have masterful 3D skills and it's always a pleasure to see what they've created.
MelDesigner's thread on 3D designs has one of the highest view counts on this forum (over half a million views in the Showcase Section where few take the time to visit), so 3D certainly adds a wow factor when executed correctly.
I don't mean to alarm you, but ..
What you are staring at is a flat screen that has only 2 dimensions--- Length and Width !!!!!
What you call 3D is only an attempt by the animators to show perspective (mind you, they are pretty good at it)... It's only an attempt.
Something every jr. high student is taught when they take either an art class or have a math instructor who is willing when the unit on geometric shapes comes around.
Any attempt beyond what the animators have already done looks amiss MOST OF THE TIME !

This was the crazy place I referred to earlier. You seriously need to relax before you have a heart attack, jackmack
This is the 2nd time in this thread you've invited someone to go something themselves. Grow up.
