Personally I agree with the OP but for different reasons.
I think people would get very annoyed with the monorail getting in the way just like Arnie in his chopper or the alien flying around.
I do think that Lionel Hutz etc should be released as a mark of respect.
Although, I do agree about it being used once, it would end up in storage for most.
