A while back Google changed Android's security on external memory so that an app can only see their own data on it, not the whole of the external memory's data. That meant wiping all the permissions for that, and apps have to re-apply for permission to access/save to your external memory.
If you want to see what specific permissions an app now wants, you have to scroll all the way to the bottom to "Permission Details".
I think this was a bad change. I've seen a bunch of apps get poor reviews from users as a result of this misunderstanding.
Agree!! Annoys me no end, as I always scroll down and check what EXACTLY they're after.
I don't mind the principle of grouping the permissions, but the execution of how visible and what EXACTLY the permission is was poor.
