Anyone else having to constantly redownload the latest update over and over?

As the title says, over the last 2 days I’ve had to download the update (or the actual game) multiple times any time I’m not playing for a couple of hours. (Using an iPad). Honestly, I’ve been playing this game since the beginning, and seems at least once a year EA’s team of monkeys don’t seem to comprehend how to do these updates without screwing everything up for Apple users. This is a cross-platform game, maybe they need to hire people who understand the language. I have to believe that at least half the people playing this game are Apple users. I’ve had to do this “update” close to 14 times already, and each time it takes about 20 minutes. This is ridiculous.

  • The problem is 100% iOS related.
iOS is built to delete files without warning.
Who is responsible for iOS ??
Did EA or Gracie Studio write iOS ??
That's right they didn't, Apple did.
Only place to lay blame is Apple

@Thomastim54 Several players here have players for 8 years and more and help players with issues all, the time. In all that time, when someone has re-downloading issues, 99% of the time it is because they are on an IOS device. The usual suggestions are making another 8-10 gbs free over what IOS says is free, clear history of spotify and safari if used and turn off offload apps feature. All those suggestions come from years of figuring this out with multiples of players on IOS following them.
Apple fans seem to dislike it when when tell them truth about their devices. How dare we impugn Apple.
Today there is a server issue that has nothing to do with downloading so why did you comment on a post about downloading?
Follow the suggestions or not. no one here cares if you play the game. But do not attack people who are just trying to help.

Well I have been playing Simpsons TO since 2015 and I do appreciate when people try to help. However being snarky about people’s choice of device is not helping. The problem is game related, not device related.
I also have played SimCity since 2015 and that is also an EA product but without any bugs and hassle like we have on Simpsons. Different developers, different bugs ? ?

There was no snark and No one was being a smarta$$. You are over reacting. Graham helps more people with TSTO than you’re even aware of.
  • Just to say I use Android and I'm having a lot of problems recently. I uninstalled and reinstalled and it still doesn't work. I don't think it's just an Apple problem. The Simpsons app seems to have way more technical issues than the other apps I use. I must have seen the "can't connect to server" over a hundred times.

Btw, I still like the app since it's the Simpsons lol
  • Cant connect is not the same as downloading the game files over and over because Apple decided to delete them - and no-one is tapping while the servers are offline.
EA are dealing with the server issues, so all there is to do for that is wait

Catch 22, Apple don't seem to report free space correctly and when they want to download something they need the space for the download, the "working files" and the installation.
They want to make a change it takes up more room than the final item so they go and just delete stuff they think you don't need or can replace.
    All good fun
Go shout at Apple, maybe they'll finally stop.
Android so far hasn't done this to me, but my Amazon Kindle needs a re-install to update and if I check on what I can remove to make space it only offers the option to delete the TSTO data - It's an older Kindle with not much room and if the OS updates take much more it won't even fit a fresh install !!
Glad I've got good WiFi !!

It is to no help to write utterly stupid lies and be a smart **** on what devise peoples game are running on. Apple do not rewrite your files as you describe it. If there is no room on your device, you been asked to either free up space or cancel the download.
BTW, I got in trouble this day with the never end spinning doughnut until Bart screen show up saying “Sorry we can’t connect to the server right now “.
So, I’m on a new iPad iOS 16.4.latest with 40gig free memory if that’s not enough of space for Simpson tapped out, EA should stop making mobile games.

Your reply to @1-Graham-S was way out of line. I suggest you read the rules post. There are and have been issues with space on ios devices whether you care to believe it or not. Lines like "utterly stupid lies" do not belong here. Period.
  • Looks like there are new developers. I'm not able to re-download the game on Android.

Server is currently down for the game EA are working on a fix
  • Hi there, now I have the problem that an update doesn’t work at all. It just doesn’t finish downloading. I have enough space on my iPhone. So what can I do?
  • Apple often doesn't tell you how much is really free and you need room to download and room to install, perhaps find out how to clear all the stuff Apple didn't tell you about and make space for the stuff you want
  • Ah, thanks, I guess that’s not the case here. After a restart I could play again, thanks!
