Just place them in your town and you'll automatically get them (with the exception of the island which needs to be level 2 or more to take effect
Just to confirm, what most of you probably already know:
-Island needs to be level 2 to get the bonus
-the Beach Hideaway needs to have all the expansion units out
-all the other SH buildings need to be out, but none of the expansion units need to be placed - just the main building
