Can't clear completed task
If he is in the task list on the left of your screen, click him - it may allow you to complete the task this way (although I think Matt Groening initiated it, so look for his icon if Homer isn't there...

On second thought, have you tried exiting your game/completely logging out and closing it, then opening it and logging back in? That's the only other thing I got.
If this doesn't do it, Hopefully someone with another idea will see this soon and be able to help fix your problem!
I've done the log in/out, unistall/reinstall. The latest chat support guy says this is a known issue but I don't know if I believe him.
