My harp freeze was similar but wierd. I was sitting on level 26 which originally had a target of 133000k XP. I was about 110000xp when El Chemistri finished and when that finished I also had a few people cashing in at the same time. All of a sudden I leveled up but thought it was odd because I knew I didn't hit the 133K. I got El Chemistri and a new target of 120k. I thought it was odd because it was lower than level 26, but I thought nothing of it. I continued to dress up El Chemistri with tables, etc and exited the game. it seemed to acting slow. I did some other stuff, email, etc and got back in. Still fine. I figured I would check on friends but the sever just cranked and cranked,oh well that happens. I exited and rebooted my iPad. I tried again and WHAMO, the freeze hit. This was all on the 18 after the large update but before the mini update I think.
Incidently, I filed a ticket with EA the same day. Two days later I got the standard IT response with the nonsense things to do like reboot and reload. after replying that I did a day later I got the email asking for the specifics on my device, memory, etc. Two days later, this AM I got the we elevated your issue email and due to the back log it will take 1 to 2 weeks to get back to you. However, today based on what I learned here I am going to go to the Mapple (apple) store and see if I can get fixed. I do not know anyone with iPhone 5 so this is my only option. I hope the store isn't busy to the point where they toss me out.
Thanks to all for what I learned here, putting up with my whining, collectively helping with diagnosis, allowing us (me) a place to vent but most of all for being the community that this offers.
I'll let folks know how my trip to the Mapple store goes--they are probably going say hey look another one of those TSTO idiots again...
