Character Finder Characters order list?

It is alphabetical with the Town Census but I think the character finder is based on when the characters were released.

I assumed it was based on when the characters were initially released so Stephanie Brockman or the Summer Games Chairman would be at the very end of the character finder because they are the newest characters and then Homer or Lisa would be the beginning since they are the oldest and very first characters.

Every character gets an Id number. I'll bet that determines the order. (my guess)

As @frosted1414 guessed (correctly) the order is determined by when they were coded into the game.
If only I knew how to access the code... Then I could just copy that section out and clean it up and I'd have my list.

I stayed up late yesterday and finally managed to slog through my character list, assigning them as I went so that every time I got kicked out I didn't have to start all over again.
@tstonumberonefan you missed a few here and there (Ladybot, The Wiccans). But then again you've got characters I've never heard of: Tourist 1? Tourist 2?
I forgot that I have a few characters in storage. Norbert (if he just didn't fly that plane across the screen...), Yakuza Boss (FLASH! when released from 8 hour task). Have you not gotten to The Sexy Pirate and The Parson yet? Neither has a solo 8 hour task so they just IRK me. I can deal with Larry and Sam since their non-solo tasks are together. But I just hate The Parson anyway, with his smarmy "I'm so much BETTER than you..." attitude.

If only they'd put a drag bar down the side of the census list so that we could quickly zip down to who we want instead of getting RSI in both thumbs from flicking through 450+ characters, then we wouldn't even need the character finder at all and then they could replace it with an icon dedicated to just the characters needed for daily challenges and story missions.

Isn't it just all the characters available in alphabetical order?
