I was at 800+ already last evening, only a few hours after the event started (I admit that I speeded up Homers tasks with donuts). Nevertheless... collection of bells seems to go pretty fast. :)

Some of my neighbors were showing similar amounts (also last night).

You can also collect 1125 bells a day and reach 22500 on January 13.

This event will allow for you to collect more bells as you go on, since the amount you get per elf goes up as well as the number you can shoot. I am over 2100 by checking my town every four hours and just tapping the cannon and elf door in neighbors towns.
