I usually enjoy harvesting crops every 4 hours or even 30 minutes if I know I'll be tapping often that day. That yokel. He's smarter than I thought. I still feel giving this task should have effected the current crop.

That trick with the corn only works during events when part of the questline involves growing a crop on Cletus's farm. Such as during Valentines when you had to grow roses. If that's the only reason you plant it, then it's best to wait until it comes up, then plant the corn before starting that particular task. You can cancel the corn if you want by storing the farm. You will lose the money you paid but the farm will be free when you bring it back out
As for the moonshine, is that to brew moonshine or to grow the crop. If it's for Cletus to brew moonshine, you can do that regardless of what's growing on the farm. You just need Cletus free.
