I usually enjoy harvesting crops every 4 hours or even 30 minutes if I know I'll be tapping often that day. In all fairness, no one knows when the next update will drop. Since we got level 43 so recently, I'm not expecting anything anytime soon (Prove me wrong, EA, I dare you, in fact I triple DOG dare you!). As for the sped up corn, it has only happened once as long as I've been playing. If I remember correctly (which in all fairness, I may not), it was during the Valentines event earlier this year, and it only happened so they could introduce the event's special crop, which were rose bushes. I just remember being hacked off that I missed an exploit I would have been happy to, well, exploit. Now as for your particular situation, sometimes the game will produce random "make-work" tasks, particularly if your town is sort of at a slow point. Are you sure the "brew moonshine" task didn't just show up in your task book, and is therefore waiting to be done until your corn is grown? Either way, I regret to inform you EA isn't going to care, but unless there's some weird bug I've never personally heard of going on in your game, I can probably walk you through this.
